Mark Strong was excellent in the U.K. miniseries, Our Friends in the North. In that series (which also featured Daniel Craig, Christopher Eccleston and Gina McKee), Strong played a very different \’type\’: in that instance, he was a womanizer and failed musician disappointed by the responsibilities of family life. The series is probably the best indication of the actor\’s range (funny, pathetic, cocky), and it seems if he wants to continue challenging himself he will likely have to do so on home turf.

I love Colin Firth and Mark Strong! They were great together in the British version (the original) of Fever Pitch! …and going back to their Jane Austen roots, CF is the best Darcy ever, and MS is the best Mr. Knightly ever!!! Can\’t wait till this opens in the US!!!

most of your comments could be used to describe the TV adaptation…which is a good sign…
the part of Bland, played here by Ciarán Hinds, is tiny in the series…maybe 5 lines in the entire running time.

it would be quite something if they did the whole trilogy…
