I\'m sorry, just not excited for this film as it\'s another Clooney\'s-attempt-for-Oscar type film that he only will appear in. It\'s very rare to ever see Clooney act outside his comfort zone as a character that isn\'t something of a version of himself. A poster asked why Depp doesn\'t do roles like this? That\'s the answer--incredible actors take risks and do a variety of roles to challenge their creativity. I haven\'t seen that from Clooney, and I\'ve seen most of his films. No, unfortunately Clooney is in the business to get an Oscar, while Depp is in the business to challenge himself as an actor. Good luck to Clooney as I understand he\'s backed out of a film as it would be filming during Oscar campaigning--enough said.

I smell Oscar for Young Hercules! Although I won\'t be watching this movie since political dramas are a snozefest. Maybe if it was like an early Tom Cruise movie, with him being chased down alleys by gun-toting agents after uncovering some conspiracy his candidate was involved in. Then I\'d watch.

Being a film about politics, \'The Ides Of March\' will be a very important movie.
I don’t understand why actors like Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp don’t do movies like this.

most of the reviews so far seem to be damning it with faint praise. It\'s not that surprising, Clooney\'s sensibilities always looked too Mr Smith Goes to Washington to ever accomplish anything different in a political thriller.

This is fine review. I think for once the trailer didn\'t lie. You get the sense that this is a cool breez that whiskes by , but it lacks the heart , humour and perhaps anger that it needs. The best of this kind of movies that\'ve seen lean on one or another. Despite it\'s coolnes it\'s not far fetched to think that it will get one or two Oscar nominations, perhaps one for Clooney. The funny thing would be if he goes against Goslin if he gets nominated for Drive ( which is almost given)

Glad we share the same assessment on \"Confessions...\" thought it was tonally off as well.

Great review. I have yet to see a political movie that moves me so I hope this will be it....no I haven\'t seen Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (which my mother says is a crime against nature) and I wouldn\'t call Bulworth life changing....was pretty funny though! I look forward to watching this because I\'m a fan of thrillers.....even if this critic didn\'t see it as one. Thank you Jenna Valletta for pointing that out! I\'m not sure why actors of their caliber, mainly Johnny Depp, refrain from roles like these.....
