I just watched it for like the 50th time last night (pretty much start to finish) and I think it\’s just brilliant. From the moody score and visuals to Depp\’s swaggering performance, all anchored by the rigidity of Bale\’s work (Michael Shannon\’s character on Boardwalk Empire seems cut from the same cloth) and some of the best, most realistic feeling/sounding shoot-outs ever…I don\’t know…it\’s hard for me not to feel that the film is a masterpiece. It\’s not as good as Heat, I can admit that, but that\’s only because Heat is one of the 10 best American movies ever made.

And all of Mann\’s upcoming potential films sound terrific. He really can\’t miss.

Lucky will be phenomenal…with Mann and Milch on board, and with that ensemble cast, lookout…
