The Golden Globes people don't actually watch the movies. MAYBE they attend the junkets, but only if they get the goodie bags or if the big celebs are there.

The Globes did give Waltz with Bashir, Paradise Now, Sally Hawkins, and Springsteen awards in the past few years, so I think they're a bit more legitimate (and sociopolitically liberal) than the Oscars these days.

Glad Ronan was left off. In fact, I don't think even Tucci deserved a nomination. That film is largely terrible.

Uh, how about the Coen Brothers…ever heard of them? Don't get me wrong, I'm not picking on Nancy Meyers as a person or because she's a woman, I'm picking on the film because it is not Oscar caliber…though obviously Golden Globes caliber, and that there is the difference between them.

I haven't seen "It's Complicated," and I'm sure it's not gold, but it is very nice to see a straight-up (albeit romantic) comedy nominated in the screenwriting category. And a woman, also.
