Well, I was hoping for the real story of 47 Ronin, especially such a famous cultural story. It could be a real old fashion Samurai movie, a real treat. I am kind of getting tired of the same cliche of "you are the one that could save us" Matrix, Avatar, John Carter,… the list is practically endless.

You've misunderstood the DGA regulation the article at The Warp mentions. It doesn't say a director must be allowed to finish production. They could have fired him any time during production. It says "the Directors Guild of America requires that if a director completes physical production he must also take part in the reshoots. But with the reshoots done, the director was then pushed aside.' BIG difference there.

No. No. No. If Universal fks up my MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF THE YEAR, they are dead to me. I will never forgive them. I can deal with more romance. Make the teen girls happy. But they better not skimp on the effects and don't play penny-pinching games. Too late for that. Spread the money and make the best picture you can. James Cameron logic. Penny-pinching at the end will just make something unwatchable like Superman Returns and its horrible low-fi video game effects. Let the God-King James Cameron be your guide, Universal!

Ouch… Rinsch never struck me as the most original voice in commercials work, but the idea of his approach to a big-budget Samurai movie with Keanu sounded so awesome to me. I hope it turns out good in the end

Sounds like a disaster! Probably they should just screen the Mizoguchi version because no matter what they do, it won't be as good as that.
