With the record-breaking weekend that “Avengers: Infinity War” had, many people didn’t even notice that Marvel Studios’ previous film “Black Panther” grossed an impressive $4.7 million for a #5 showing in its 11th week at the box office. What makes the weekend even more impressive is that the film finished in the top 5 one week before it hits home release. On May 8, “Black Panther” will be available for VOD, and we have a couple deleted scenes from the massive Marvel hit.
“Black Panther” focused a lot on the relationship between father and son, with both T’Challa and Killmonger dealing with family issues. So, it makes sense that both deleted scenes we have for you today focus on the relationship between T’Challa and his father, T’Chaka.
In the first scene (via Yahoo), we see a young T’Challa speaking to his father about a difficult choice that was made. While it’s clear that the scene is definitely extraneous and didn’t need to be in the final cut of the film, it’s still a great moment between the father and son, and show just how deep the bond was between the two characters.
The second scene is more of a continuation of a famous moment in the film. After T’Challa defends his title as King and Black Panther, he must go through the ritual to gain his powers back. During which, he visits his ancestors and speaks to his now-deceased father one more time. The deleted scene continues with T’Challa talking to Forest Whitaker’s character Zuri. They discuss why T’Chaka gave up the title of Black Panther, while remaining king, with Zuri saying it was because the leader was “too fat” to fit in the suit.
These deleted scenes are part of a variety of extras that will be included on the home release of “Black Panther.”
