Not to shit in the punch bowl but has Showtime confirmed that it\’s 18 episodes? Might Sherilyn Fenn be referring/confused about the announcement that the first and final episodes would have extended running times?

That\’s a heavy dose of speculation, Lola. First of all, it\’s Showtime, so I\’m not sure why you think there\’s going to be advertisements. Secondly, there\’s no reason to assume that these episodes won\’t be 47-52 minutes long each, like almost every other premium cable series.

Let me guess. The dispute was over budget, so they decided to cut the nine episodes from hour long episodes into half, thus giving us 18 half hour episodes. Maybe stretching those into 40 minute episodes. More episodes, more money from advertisers etc. Equals bigger budget. This is how they got Lynch back.

Well hallelujah, after ten years without a single Lynch film he returns with eighteen hours. Two more hours and he\’ll have bestowed us with a movie for each year he was absent.
