I think one of the main things that’s interesting about slowly zooming into a nuclear explosion is that deep within we have the entangled American dreams and visions of a surreal future. I was reminded that the people watching movies in the 40s and 30s didn’t think they were watching something old-fashioned. They were watching a framing of a vision taking us into the future. Implanted in the world that Americans laid out for themselves is something sinister.
