but what about IT? he should be making a quality horror film! He's got all of the talent in the world and True Detective has some very horror-like set ups and pay offs and he would kill it! ugh. my butt hurts.

"buy a pitch," what exactly does that mean? Do they give him money up front so that he doesn't go anywhere else to pitch his film? Or do deals like like this exist on a regular basis, where it's written into the contents of the pitch or does the studio say "Hey, we love your idea, here is 500,000 for you personally and we don't want you to go anywhere else with this."
