I am Steve\’s dad, the "abusive bastard". Your review was okay. Steve is stuck between ages 12 and 19. His first book was actually JONES INN, and it was clearly a novel. Steve begins lying when he wakes up in the morning, and stops when he goes to sleep. I don\’t know why. Some children are just born peculiar. But he makes a living and is not violent, and I\’m grateful for that. He has 3 siblings who are nice, successful, and close to me. When he came to talk to me about THE ADDERALL DIARIES in 2007, I told him to just keep writing until he had a book length, and then cut it like sausage, which he did and it worked for him. He sold a part of my memoirs with it, so it would have been nice had he cut me a check. But that\’s okay. As I\’ve told him, "You can\’t steal from your dad, son. It\’s all yours anyway."

As the review continues, "A mish-mash of memoir and autobiography and fiction and imagination…" I understand that "A Life Without Consequences" is a mix of semi-autobiographical and fictional elements, and I thought that was clear. I apologize if this comparison is NOT clear — reading back now, I can see the problem — but I meant it within the context of the film, which is largely about the character of "Stephen" having his life (personal, professional) upended because of accusations of fraud from his first book.

Before there was James Frey there was Stephen Elliott? Are you kidding me? The book you\’re referencing, A Life Without Consequences, is a novel. It\’s based on my real life, and my father may not have liked it, but it\’s a novel. I\’ve never been accused of fraud, except by you, in this article. While it\’s possible to have different memories related to events and different interpretations of those events (that\’s what The Adderall Diaries is actually about) I\’ve never made-up facts or knowingly lied in order to bolster my career. And I\’ve never been accused of such by any credible source.

Aweful acting on Ambers part. The film is a snoozer as is, they should have brought a real actor that can bring a professiinal feel to the story. I don\’t think I could sit throught that again.
