It's true. Make something emotionally engaging that people can actually care about, rather than an over-plotted turkey with incomprehensible CGI and characters no one in their right mind could invest in. The pitch for Bumblebee sounds like it could be much more along these lines (and indeed it sounds like it's basically what Spielberg thought the first Transformers movie was going to be about, before it er, wasn't) - but whether Travis Knight is the guy to find emotional depth in this story is another question altogether...

Um, the most recent Fast/Furious movie did less than the previous, but still more than all the others- you can HARDKY say it failed in the U.S. Maybe you mean the recent XxX movie. Also, calling Warcraft a franchise film when it was the first one and didn't have a guaranteed commitment for more is presumptuous.

Have we encountered this trend before, where franchise films fail at home but overproduce overseas? Warcraft did it last year and now Fast and Furious, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mummy and Transformers make the least of the series at home but then the most overseas. What will studios do I wonder?
