Fools! Tim Burton is one of the best directors around. Far more imagination than any of these big money hollywood types.

That said, I haven't yet seen any of your films....

I always thought SLEEPY HOLLOW had its moments, particularly Depp's odd take on Crane and the frequent homages to Hammer horror films. Plus, Christina Ricci was finally in one of Burton's film. It always seemed like she belonged in one of 'em.

But I would agree that ED WOOD is the best thing he's ever done. I wonder if he took its commercial failure hard and never fully recovered?

The first Batman was good for the time, but hasn't aged well. I can't sit through it now. Batman Returns, woo boy. Never been able to sit through the entire thing. I feel like it's for hardcore comic-book fans or Burton devotees. Burton's last good film was Ed Wood, which was wow, 15 years ago. Spot on Gabe.

I will say Depp is rather great in Willy Wonka, but I don't think that's a particularly good film and this one seems to be in the same ballpark of tone and feel.

I always forget that Tim Burton made a few pretty decent movies, and not one decent one and a sea of shittier efforts. Though his next good one will be his first good one in 15 years.
