I actually appreciated the reality. Sorry, but watching an alien army show up in The Avengers and destroy buildings yet somehow no one got hurt? Kind of silly to me. And for those complaining that Superman "let this happen"... it was that or let the whole race of man kind get wiped out. Even with that kind of damage it's still hard not to say THANKS!

:p C'mon. I find this entirely baseless. First of all, the first line about it being escapist (written on the internet, for people on the internet >_>) is pretty silly. Now, Supes isn't my favorite hero for a number of reasons, and I haven't seen the film, but I'm willing to bet that many many more people if not the entire freaking world would have been destroyed, were he not there doing what Superman does. It's not very exciting to show reconstruction, which might actually say something about the viewership, but do you really think someone as fast and strong with his sense of ethics wouldn't make the process a whole lot easier? He can lift and weld girders faster than a 1,000 workers. Oh, but the materials cost money? "Got some coal? Oh, one second... Here's some diamonds for ya. Anything else I can do?" Superman is a naive, self righteous, puppet of the state, but it would be extremely out of character for him to unnecessarily endanger human life and not clean up the mess afterward.
