Tony Gilroy was involved in the Bourne movies and he also wrote and directed Michael Clayton. He’s a great screenwriter but not the type to write a generic four quadrant blockbuster movie so I trust that whatever Gilroy is doing will add more character depth and clarity to the film.

This should not be “matching” The Force Awakens. This is a WAR film. To lighten the story is to do it a disservice. This sounds like Disney is screwing with the DNA of the picture to recreate the box office numbers of TFA. Not gonna happen no matter what you do to this film. In fact you will probably hurt your numbers by trying to force a square peg in a round hole. It’s that simple.

Until the cement hardens on the franchise, , Disney should just give Lawrence Kasdan a gift wrapped armored truck full of money to do a pass on each project to unify the series. Tony Gilroy is great if you want the dark opera of “Empire Strikes Back” but not so great if you want to match to “The Force Awakens”.

But it hardly matters. Disney has handled this so poorly that “Rogue One ,” whether good or bad, now has the “Fantastic Four” stink about it.
