Some books are best left alone this is one of them.

Also Tykwer's work in The International was terrible, both script and filming, only the art direction was any good, the movie did not do well.

And if you cant manage that, how can he manage this.

But this is a bait to get interest ing the film, by tagging named actors.

Natalie Portman listed the book as one that "changed her life" in Oprah magazine, so I can hardly imagine her turning down a role.

This is one of my all time favorite novels. The book in its entirety could really only be done as a mini-series or a series of six films. Condensing these stories would be difficult. I can only imagine McKellen as Cavendish or Mephi. If they were only going to do one then the most commercially viable would be "An Orison of Sonmi 451" which may be their strongest option.
