This is bull crap! Stupid Del Toro may have read Lovecraft before, but he obviously has no idea about the style of storytelling that Lovecraft used.
He used primarily narrative driven story with no attention to character detail. Lovecraft isn\'t interested in his characters, they are a means to an end for story telling. Why then is Guillermo choosing to use upscale names, primarily Tom Cruise who is just a tad too LOUD AND HYPERACTIVE for Lovecrafts subtleties. Use an unknown that wouldn\'t get in the way of the story, damn it!
Man, Lovecraft isn\'t being welcomed into the mainstream in a good way. Just look at what the, once funny, now sinking ship, southpark did to poor Cthulhu. I bet Howard is rolling in his grave.
