The primary resistance is Tom’s ‘heil’ of Hitler. Its doesn’t seem to eb the performance that is generating the resistance but the very juxtaposition of star and that specific action.
Its note-worthy that said movie-goer also cited that its a “bunch of white guys playing nazis” as if some multi-ethnic casting was ignored less we forget the point of the entire venture.
This has the feeling of setting up a project for failure based on the communal desire to take down Cruise because he’s been ripe for a fall since hurdling the couch.
I say let the film suceed or fail of its own merit without all the petty punditry beforehand.
