I've posted somewhere else that it is very interesting to perceive "Arthur Newman" as an experiment with a sonata musical form in a film medium. Two strong themes and all the necessary parts. In this case the structure itself extends the dialogues. The actual musical score itself is built quite resourcefully and is important. And the main idea, I think, is not about running away from one's problems, but about erasing one's life.

Completely off the mark review and interpretation from the get go. And Anne Heche does not play his wife, she plays his girlfriend. Glad you paid attention.
