this is looking like a real disappointing TIFF… obviously demanding premiere status really hurt them. as everyone else has mentioned NYFF has really stolen the thunder with Inherent Vice, Gone Girl and Birdman – those are 3 of the fall's biggest titles and to not be able to get even one must sting. but then TIFF of late has certainly put stars ahead of films and the choice of an opening night premiere of an unexciting drama from the director of Wedding Crashers, Shanghai Knights, The Change Up… I mean I thought last year was bad with The Fifth Estate.

really wish TIFF would stop worrying so much about which stars will show and worry about the actual film programming a bit more. not to discredit wavelengths, vanguard and other programs… there are still promising films screening but there's also a bunch of titles that just sound like crap.

Adam Driver has three films this year at TIFF. Not to mention the new stars wars and scorsese films coming out next year. Dude is going to be huge in the next couple years.

thats the film The Cobbler, its directed by the dude who directed that Peter Dinklage film Station Agent.

I can't wait to see Chris Evans' directorial debut, he could be the next Richard Linklater. On the other hand, I think Alice Eve was horribly miscast. A different and more talented actress might have breathed more life into the role.

Really strong line-up of films. Glad to see "Foxcatcher", "While we're young", "The imitation game" and "Miss Julie" included. I also wish "Inherent vice", "Birdman" and "Gone girl" were included as well. But really, what's happening with "Serena"? Is it so bad or what? What kind of post-production is this? Wanted to see it in this line-up so badly.

They still got owned by NYFF pretty hard. Remember that fest only has 3 premieres, but they were 2 of the biggest of the season.

It would appear that TIFF got a great slate but the appearance of the denotation of "Canadian" Premiere instead of the previous "World" or "North American" would indicate there's still a lot of leakage to Telluride. (Foxcatcher, 99 Homes, Wild Tales, Rosewater, Mr. Turner, etc.)

Wait Susanne Bier's most recently completed film is coming out BEFORE Serena? Good god, that film was either suck (more than Diana and Grace of Monaco?) or this the lengthiest post production in the history of post production. Maybe Bier was so inspired by Boyhood, that she set out to film portions of it every year for the next 10? Yep, that's it.

Exciting list, but I agree there are a few of my most anticipated missing here, including Kill the Messenger, Unbroken, Inherent Vice, Birdman, Gone Girl and Selma (although it may be too early for that last one anyway). I'm looking forward to full NYFF and Telluride line-ups as it seems to be where the bigger titles are flocking, although it looks like TIFF still managed to get a very nice selection of films.

Not a bad line-up at all; plenty of titles I'm curious about. However, I just can't muster the same excitement for TIFF this year as for the NY Film Festival…Inherent Vice, Gone Girl, and Birdman….now those are BIG titles.
