Saw "Amigo" at TIFF – a must since I'm Filipina & island-born. "Amigo" might be the 1st film about the Philippine-American War. While today's critics/viewers might see the Iraq/Afghanistan connection, those of us who long fought to get U.S. dominance out of the Philippines called the Philippine-American War the "first Vietnam."

In fact, in my birthplace Samar, all Filipino males 10 years old & over were ordered massacred. Mark Twain & the Anti-Imperialist League of that time had pithy things to say too.
