Umm, it is Volscian – not Vosican. The Volscians are the insurgent force/ethnic tribe/lion pride led by Coriolanus\’ nemesis Tullus Aufidius. Otherwise, an enjoyable review, thank you.

Caius Martius isn\’t meant to be a subtle character. Very few apex predators are. He was bred, suckled, and reared by his she-wolf mother for one purpose and one purpose only. His mentality is that of Sparta – come back with your shield or on it. He is the perfect, unyielding, primal fighting machine. Very pure, glittering, and pitiless in his ideals (which, whether we agree with him or no, we can at times guiltily admire). In this he is a dinosaur – the world has no place for uncompromising ideals. The rarer the diamond, the more threatened the masses will be, and the \’tall poppy\’ must be mowed down. I look forward to this film.

A very apt description of the title character Immature. I\’ve been looking forward to this off-kilter adaptation of one of Shakespeare\’s more unheralded works. That Fiennes is in the title role and we get to see what he can do as a director makes it even more interesting.

Coriolanus isn\’t a subtle character. He\’s pretty much a brutal, bloodthirsty manchild, what Othello would be with Iago\’s instincts for war but without Iago\’s cunning or his own nobility.
