Whhoops, posted under the wrong name as i was editing a piece.

Every film at TIFF gets a standing ovation. TIFF (and most film festival) audiences are Trained fucking seals and if celebrities are in the room they LAP up that shit up like its manna from the skies.

God, please never ever use a TIFF audience as a baraometer for anything. I grew up in Toronto, and over several years I\’ve seen them rave over some of the worst shit possible and I\’ve seen them rave over some of the greatest films too. I\’m not sure they know the difference.

Well Gabe Toro, I have so far seen 7 movies since TIFF began on Sept 8th and Machine Gun Preacher is BY FAR the best and most heart wrenching movie I have seen! I have definitely given it a 5 and it more than deserves it.

It is very obvious to me that you have a personal grouse with Gerard Butler but you need to check your biases whenever you pen your critics if you want to be considered a professional critic. I would never again take what you say seriously from here on.

You obviously have no respect for what Sam Childers went through and what the Sudanese orphans are still going through up to now. With people like you touting your pompous self around It is no wonder they are still going through it even today! Have you ever given any thought to what you can do to help them?

@ Playlist – of the six films I saw this weekend at TIFF only ONE got a standing ovation: Machine Gun Preacher.

Therefore your statement is false.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen didn\’t receive a standing ovation, but it was, by far, the most excellent film I saw at TIFF.

However, my part in the standing ovation was not for the film, but for the bravery of Sam Childers doing whatever it takes to help the children who\’ve been brutalized in the Sudan.

I guess you just can\’t handle a real life story of someone who actually turned their life around and is actually doing some good in this world. I give Gerard credit for taking a risk to make this kind of movie and to play this type of character. Clearly he felt Sam\’s story needed to be told. If you ever read Sam\’s book(which i doubt you have) you would know that what they are showing is the real Sam Childers in this movie. Hollywood could not even make up such a character. Sam is a one of a kind. I am personally looking forward to seeing this movie.

I will wait to see other reviews before I make a choice of whether to see it or not because The Playlist sometimes loves shitty ass films and sometimes praises films worthy of it. But I went off a review from you guys BIG MISTAKE and the film you loved and raved about was such trash I wanted to harm myself, So now I am not always so trusting of your opinion.
