I could not agree with this review less. I just got in from a screening of this film in London which I found hilarious, moving, wise, smart and just generally brilliant.

That\’s how it really IS when you get news like cancer …
You want to be positive and brave but it comes out as nervous humour; not always funny but you don\’t care, it\’s all you got, you just want to get past it
You want to be real and brave but it comes out as evasive; you can\’t always afford to be as poignant and emotional as you\’re really feeling cuz it will break you down and kill your life even if you survive curing the cancer
And besides all the tear-jerker cliches aren\’t realistic
You want to keep it right down the even-keel middle just to function semi-normal while you \”neutralize\” the monster within but there\’s always someone who gets affected over the top and out of control … another whole mine-field to navigate, and nobody really gets it right but you cope
I thought 50/50 was well cast, well written and well worth seeing; career making performances, true-to-life scripting with relatable charactors and a story that takes something ugly and makes it still ugly but beautiful in the personal nuances of a shared human experience.

wow. couldn\’t disagree with you anymore. this movie was incredibly moving. at least for me.
