Now if Redford had a clue about history, he would have presented the assassination for what it was, a justifiable killing of a mass murderer named Lincoln. If you want to find an unjustifiable war, look no further than our Civil War. Redford simply doesn't have either the guts or the brains to have done that. He's too busy saving the world. Right….

Bloody contemporary relevance – as if the actual stories surrounding the Lincoln assassination weren't fascinating and relatable enough – it's a classic tale of hubris and pathos and cowardice and nobility and oh fine then, I'll just make my own film.
