Chushingura is a classic Japanese tale of honor, loyalty and revenge. I cannot imagine what the average Japanese thinks of this incursion into their mythology by placing "The One" into the tale.
I have seen several versions of the story including Mizoguchi's 1941,version, Genroku ChÅ«shingura (47 Ronin), and Hiroshi Inagaki's 1962 Toho production, Chushingura: Hana no Maki, Yuki no Maki. Even with all the dynamite Japanese actors, I doubt I will see this thing just based on the trailer. Keenu has become the Tarzan of Asian Cultural space.

Ironically there is a chronicle of a real, documented non-Japanese Samurai. Yasuke was bodyguard to the Warlord Nobunaga and promoted to Samurai in the 16th Century. Nobunaga initiated the unification of Japan under the shogunate sytem. Now there'a a tale for ya'ass.

I wonder when we will see THAT story!!!! 🙂

Keanu Reeves? Anyone consider even Dean Cain or Marc Dacascos, two other Eurasian American actors. I don't recall monsters ever being in the original story. With this be part of a 2-disc set, along with "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"?

I think we've all been able to tell for quite awhile that this thing didn't have a chance of being good and was going to flop hard. Keanu makes the strangest choices. Just make me happy and get ready for Bill & Ted 3, Keanu.
