Thought for a second this was someone's joke of what a pretentious DFW fan would write about Jason Segel playing this role, but unfortunately you were being serious. Always thought Jason Segel was pretty good in all his roles, including the dick and Muppet ones. Also always seems to have a sadness but approachability that actually fits the writer's personality. Guess that's just me.
