I agree, re-makes can be challenging. I reecntly saw a film from Switzerland called, 'The Sandman' (http://dersandmann.ch/) it was released this year and will likely be remade for the US Market. As far as it looking "just like the original," what can I say except you're wrong. As for "no surprises," well…I don't know how to help ya. *shrugs*

@Zatopek: I agree. There are no surprises, it's the exact same story. I can identify every scene in the trailers. Don't understand the hype either. It's probably Fincher fanboys. Just like with 'Scott Pilgrim' and 'Sucker Punch' the internet fanboys will be louder than the box office. I like Fincher, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig just disappointed that they want to use their talents to remake a movie which came out less than 2 years ago.

I don't understand the hype. It looks just like the original Swedish film, but with a bigger budget and different actors. I don't know what you people are expecting from this other than a slightly improved version at best.
