thank you so much Mr Perez ! after all this slaughter of TD2 the onedimensional critics and egocentrical critisism you come along and dare to take a deeper look , the fastness of meaning, psychological , socialogical and politacal wasteland , where every good one gets lost in the labyrinths of greed and will to power . after watching TD2 the second time I am amazed about the complexity and density of storytelling , the pace , the camerawork , production design and editing , by far the best we get to see on TV let alone the openng, never mind and T Bone Burnett .I believe in time True Detective 1 and 2 will be equaly seen as some of the greatest TV series made these days

The show is a loser. Let the first season stand on it\'s own. No need for a 3rd installment of this steaming pile of horse crap.

It\'s funny - there\'s been so much snarky criticism of this season, yet dig a little deeper, do some thinking, and the fascinating and resonant ideas at play in it start to appear. I have no idea what everyone\'s complaining about - I thought it was terrific. Not perfect (what is? Certainly not the first season of True Detective) - but exciting, engaging, moving, surprising, atmospheric, and better than 90% of stuff on TV.

Absolutely the best critique of this flawed season that I have read.
Funny that some of the most heavy-handed criticism of this show has appeared on the Indiewire reviews, and reads exactly like ones found on Variety, Rolling Stone, or Esquire, yet on ThePlaylist, a blog on Indiewire, we find insightful analysis that explores what worked and what didn\'t on the show in equal measure.
Keep up the good work.

Season 1 also had a murder as a macguffin. Because at the end, the murder is the less important part of the story. It\'s the characters. In both seasons, the story focus on the characters and nothing gets resolved until the final episodes, where they get the real killer, but the people involved on the conspirancy get away unharm.
