James Horner, a good composer but doesn\'t have a lot of imagination. He really didn\'t understand what it was like to work with someone like Malick. And I bet he never saw his other films prior to that.

It\'s great to read that Desplat, one of my favorite composers, was able to understand what Malick wants and I think he will finally get his Oscar.

What a fascinating contrast to the interview I read a few years back online with James Horner, who bashed Malick endlessly, saying he was an incompetent lunatic who ruined what could have been a big mainstream commercial hit film based on what was in the raw footage for The New World by cutting it in such a way that it was all esoteric. I happen to think that choice was brilliant, and it\'s nice to see a composer who also came through that process with respect for Malick.
