It\’s Deadpool, that\’s why. If it wasn\’t Deadpool I wouldn\’t have watched it three times. I probably wouldn\’t have watched an R rated movie and dragged my family and friends to watch it. Deadpool is known to the younger generation because of the magic of Internet, they might not have read the comics but his name and his craziness can be found everywhere. Especially on sites where memes are formed and spread. If it wasn\’t Deadpool would it have worked? No, because there is no one out there as crazy, as ugly, as funny, as badass and as lovable as Deadpool.

The decision makers and the bean counters will never understand the true reason of the success of certain movies. The best reason for any movie to be a success is that it dared to be original and not follow an already existing film\’s success and/or formula. If these studio heads were to just trust their filmmakers as well as choose to take risks on original content, they\’d have a much better chance at success. Rather than focusing on a specific (and wrong element) of the why\’s of a film\’s success (ex: because it was Rated R!!!), they should focus on spending the time and effort to make a great movie. I\’d much rather see a studio spend a modest budget (in the 10 million range) rather than spend 200million and bank everything on an expensive production and hope to come back with Avatar numbers!

The Executives never learn the lesson, they can\’t see beyond their noses, they just stare at the numbers and if something makes a lot of it they won\’t see beyond the screen to see what made it such a hit, Screw Hollywood excutives.

They ("Hollywood") – won\’t learn a lesson from this success, just as no one in Western culture ever does nowadays. Although is is "Making Bank", it wasn\’t about that.
Obviously the be all and end all for the film makers was not Money. It was to make a movie they loved making and that is why it is "Making Bank".
"Hollywood" will see only $ signs.

Best example I can think of for a \’disastrous success\’ is AVATAR – which led to every film over a certain budget being converted to (useless) 3D.
