Thank you, thank you, for more 'Candelabra' goodies! I am completely in love with this movie. Every time I watch it I laugh harder and am more touched emotionally. On my latest viewing (my third and definitely not my last) I noticed:
- the HBO logo is from the seventies
- Cheyenne Jackson is terrific.
- when Dr Startz and Scott are hanging at the pool there is a large container of Wesson oil next to the pills and booze on the table. I'm not sure if it's a tanning reference or a sex reference or both, but however it's meant, it's fantastic.
- when Lee is snoring in bed after his facelift Scott actually waves his hand in front of Lee's face to try to wake him up - since he can no longer close his eyes!
- when Lee and Scott are arguing as they walk through the mansion they walk past dog poop.
- the house boy's Santa hat has sparkles on it.
- Matt Damon's expression when the house boy offers him pigs in a blanket at crotch level. I laughed as hard as I am capable of laughing.
- even when he is charming Scott in the beginning Liberace actually says some awful things.
- the street fashions are even better than the stage costumes, which do pale a bit in comparison to Liberace's actual threads. But the costumers exploited gay 70's and 80's LA street attire exquisitely.
- in many of the early happy years scenes, Liberace and Scott's clothes are color co-ordinated.
- the last 40 minutes may be Matt Damon's greatest acting ever, and that's really saying something.
- there needs to be a coffee table book about this movie!
