If you’re a fan of The Rolling Stones, you’re probably familiar with the life of Brian Jones, one of the founding members who would go on to depart the band before they really reached their pinnacle. Jones’ story is, sadly, very similar to many rock geniuses of that era, a life consumed by fame, drugs, and all the other temptations, ending in the only way it could. Now, decades later, Jones gets the spotlight in the new documentary, “The Stones and Brian Jones.”
With “The Stones and Brian Jones” hitting theaters this week, we’re thrilled to give our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the documentary. In the clip, we see discussion about Jones’ later life, as he was deep into his troubles with addiction. His drug use led to various issues at the time, in the mid-to-late-‘60s, but the clip shows how it led to his then-girlfriend leaving him (eventually running off with his bandmate, Keith Richards) and the almost-collapse of a gig where he was going to write the music for the German film, “A Degree of Murder.”
“The Stones and Brian Jones” is directed by veteran documentarian, Nick Broomfield. The filmmaker previously worked on projects including “Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love,” “Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer,” and “Ghosts.”
“The Stones and Brian Jones” debuts in theaters and VOD on November 17. You can watch the exclusive clip below.
