By '76 Ford had well-received supporting roles in a number of high profile films and a lead role in an acclaimed film by 2 of the most iconic filmmakers ever in?? Seems to me he was actually making cabinets for George Lucas at the time.

I heard the collective nerdgasm from here when the cast announcement was made. Star Wars geek speculation is a certainly a wonder to behold. This article, on the other hand, comes across as relatively logical and sane.

I predict Max Von Sydow is playing an elderly Admiral Rieekan from the original trilogy. Maybe handing the reins to and/or advising Han as leader of the fleet

I hate the predictions. Read the article to see the best roles section of a wonderful cast. I don't see the point of speculating. It's incredibly naive to say this but isn't it stupid to have it all figured out before the movie's out or read it on some fan blog. I have an idiot friend who's way too lazy to read the GoT books but is impatient with the tv show. So he reads summaries of the stuff on the internet which is the worst way to experience the stuff. Like it's part of some dry poorly written history book instead of using the supposedly wonderful viewpoint structure of the book or the brilliance of the tv show. I also hated another friend of mine who really wanted band to break batman's back in "dark knight rises" cuz it was important in the comics. I hate all of that. I know I'm gonna watch Star Wars 7 no matter what. And the cast is great. I'm gonna avoid everything about it from now on just so it's all fresh come December next year. I went in blank for the master and that movie still mystifies me and amazes me. That's the best way to do it people! Trust me!!

Can you believe that they've actually got Ford, Fisher & Hamill back. I mean really, apart from Ford, they're awful actors & now they don't even look the part. Just dreadful. I guess even Harridon Fords career is so down the toilet these days that he had to do this. It's just a shame the other actors are risking their careers on this rubbish. More Phantom Menace I fear.

Surely the fans appreciate your obnoxiously glib — and certainly totally uninformed — dismissal of the entire, decades-in-the-construction, millions-of-words-long Expanded Universe as "rather silly." How many EU books have you read? There's plenty in the movie trilogies that is just as "silly" as the stuff in the EU. But the EU is a 1000 times vaster than those 6 films, so there's lower lows (and, arguably, higher highs). And scanning a few wikipedia pages, assuming you bothered to do even that, doesn't quite cover, you know, the details
