I’m really not sure how I feel about them revealing the identity of the documentary makers. I was talking this over with one of my Dish co-workers and we both thought it could end up being more disappointing than anything. I’ve been faithfully watching this show since it first came on, and even though it has been mostly dreadful the last couple of seasons, I can’t give it up. I just got onto the night shift at my job, so I’m glad I can rely on my Hopper to have everything recorded for me when I get home. Hopefully this last season will be a return to form. I miss the days of the first five seasons, but I’m sure I’ll miss The Office once it’s over. It’s definitely time for it to end though.

Use the documentary angle to get Carrell back for a 3 episode arc to end the series as production on the documentary ends and the footage starts getting released. You could have them becoming reality stars. Kelly, Michael and Ryan would eat that up!

The chance for a good, emotionally resonant ending has passed them by. They should have accepted Carrell leaving as the end, and tailored that season towards building a nice finale for everyone involved. What we got instead was a strange, emotionally hollow departure for Carrell, and the rest of the cast left to suffer through forced, uninteresting plotlines. They want so badly to make us care about Erin and Andy, but we don't. I like them both just fine, but their relationship has no real dramatic grounds. This last season really was a trainwreck, because Carrel exited and the show runners have had no idea what to do with the people they had to replace him. They had no idea what to do with Will Ferrell, and his character was awful. They had no idea what to do with James Spader, so his character made no sense (and was awful.) They have no idea what to do with the British woman, so her character is completely unbelievable. The idea of revealing the documentary aspect is nice, but at this point it just seems like an attempt at attention-grabbing. Again, it would have worked better with Carrell still in place. Bringing him back would be admitting defeat, and difficult to work into the actual story. WALLOFTEXT!
