‘The Marsh King’s Daughter’ Trailer: Daisy Ridley & Ben Mendelsohn Star In Survivalist Family Thriller On October 6

As Daisy Ridley waits to reprise her role as Rey in the “Star Wars” universe, she’s broadened her horizons with work like “Sometimes I Think About Dying.” For her next feature, she stars opposite Ben Mendelsohn for the tense survivalist thriller, “The Marsh King’s Daughter.”

In Neil Burger‘s latest, Ridley play a woman with a secret past who ventures into the wilderness she left behind to confront the most dangerous man she’s ever met: her father (Mendelsohn).

Here’s an official synopsis for “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” courtesy of Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions:

Helena’s seemingly ordinary life hides a dark and dangerous truth: her estranged father is the infamous Marsh King (Ben Mendelsohn), the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. When her father escapes from prison, Helena will need to confront her past. Knowing that he will hunt for her and her family, Helena must find the strength to face her demons and outmaneuver the man who taught her everything she knows about surviving in the wild.

“The Marsh King’s Daughter” also stars Garrett HedlundCaren PistoriusBrooklynn Prince, and Gil Birmingham.

Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith co-pen the script for Burger’s latest film, adapting Karen Dionne‘s 2017 novel of the same name. “The Marsh King’s Daughter” is Burger’s first film since 2021’s “Voyagers.” Teddy Schwarzman from Black Bear leads the film’s production team, with Anonymous Content‘s Keith Redmon, and Smith.
