Crossing Over (directed by Wayne Kramer) is also missing. Weinstein cut 25 minutes out including Sean Penn\’s entire performance and dumped the film in 4 theaters.

I often wondered if Maguire\’s career would\’ve changed better, if The Details wasn\’t so horribly cut and shelved. Bong Joonho had nothing to regret since Snowpiercer did 9M+ admissions in Korea, against Hollywood tentpoles.

I agree, Rose. Macbeth is the next to join this list. It would never have been shown at Cannes without StudioCanal, which obviously has great confidence in it. Based on the many raves in the trades and British press, especially about the cinematography, I really want to see it on the big screen, but who knows whether that will happen outside of a couple of theaters in NY and LA.

Mr Weinstein – I respect the hell out of you for standing up to this oppression. However, you are a rich and powerful man. Right now there are 1,000\’s of Chinese families being sucked into a trafficking operation spanning this country. I can\’t get anyone to look at the evidence we have against this ring because they are using police officers to threaten and bully as well as smear tactics like they\’re doing with KFC. I also can\’t compete with the media that\’s portraying the African American male as the "traffickers" in this country – when the truth is we have the Chinese trafficking them into the country, and white Aryan police officers and Hell\’s Angel\’s bullying anyone who tries to report them into silence or worse We tried to start filming what\’s going on in the Asian massage parlors right now and how they\’ve exploded in this country, as well how they\’re attacking Backpage so sex workers can\’t work "independently" – and we were bullied off the project. I\’m just a single disabled mother of a disabled kid who lives in an RV because they busted into my home while the police refused to even take a report. I am no match for them as you are The only power we have is the power of media – so all i can ask is if maybe you\’d consider a meeting with me Mr Weinstein –

Seriously, Harvey is a threat to any artistic vision a filmmaker might have these days. And if he wants to be that in control of the whole thing, he shouldn\’t even bother buying the films in the first place. I saw Suite Francaise the other day and although the film is a half-baked period romance, it\’s nowhere near the failure one would imply. If anything, there are some really strong performances from the leads. The same goes for Shanghai. I\’m really anxious about the fate of Macbeth as well and for Christ\’s sake, I\’m right there with John, Marion Cotillard should probably have this written in all of her contracts from now on: “Never sell my films to Harvey Weinstein. NEVER!” If the film doesn\’t get released after in US after the raves it got in Cannes and the strong buzz after the trailer from Studio Canal, Harvey not only should be ashamed of himself but he has probably passed into the realm of batshit crazy.
