About all I agree with you on here is that Jennifer Lawrence was great (even though I don't agree with her win, she's so likeable and honest and humorous in the interview process; truly a star is raised today) ...

Yes, the boobs song was silly, but there can't really be a penis song can there? All the women in the song were Oscar winners and had nude scenes. As far as my memory serves no penis flasher has won an Oscar, and hardly any have even been nominated. Fassbender? Not oscar nominated. McGregor? Not oscar nominated. What do you want a dated two second song of non winners? Keitel, we saw your peen! Dafoe, we saw it bleed! What the boobs song shows without a penis song is that, duh, Hollywood is sexist.

Yes, "Les Miserables" came out this year. So what. That was not a worthy follow-up to Jennifer Hudson absolutely killing it. How can you put the best musical performance on the night of too many musical performances in your worst list? Why, just because you didn't like that movie? I didn't either, but damn that was a good performance.

How is there no mention of drunk Zellweger, swaying back and forth and Gere goading her to try and read the envelope?

Also, speaking of looking drunk, so appeared Tarantino with hair and tie and speech, but he wasn't condescending to his actors -- he said if I'm remembered for anything it will be my characters, and I have to cast the right people, and I did so thank you (to the cast) ... not eloquent but he certainly didn't slander them.

By the way, I wasn't a fan of the boobs song, just saying if you think it's hypocritical that there was no penis song, that speaks to Hollywood, not really the bit. (bits! hahhahahahahahaha)

I'm also scratching my head at your comment about Aaron Tveit. I can't tell if it was a slam, since you said you enjoyed the number but then named everyone else but him for giving a great performance and said he looked like a waiter. He and Samantha Barks were hands down the best thing about that number. Maybe he will be more recognizable to you next time.

Calling Aaron Tveit "one of the waiters" is so incredibly disrespectful considering he was the strongest singer among the whole cast during the les mis performance. Also, not even listing him with the rest of this cast was low as hell you should be ashamed.

because someone hasn't been starring in movies for years means that you have to belittle them?

when did it become okay for someone to all of the sudden put down one of the best performers in the show, based on the fact that he isn't wildly popular in mainstream media?

base your judgments off of talent, not popularity, if you're going to be writing something for people to form a factual opinion on.

that little dig at aaron tveit was the tackiest thing i've ever seen.

homeboy's been starring in broadway shows for five years. he's more than paid his dues in the theatre community, and landing a role as major as enjolras in les mis is no small achievement.

i appreciate that you couldn't get your uncultured ass down to the theatre district at any point in the past decade but your breathtaking myopia is no reason to call one of the most talented broadway performers of this generation "one of the waiters"

1. Quentin Tarantino has every right to brag about his film, his characters, his casting, and his dialogue.

2. Quentin Tarantino's speech was one of the best of the night. Not only did he pay an enomorous amount of tribut to his fellow nominees: "This is the year of the screenwriters, you guys are incredible." But he also payed a big amount of respect to his actors, basically saying: My films are only memorable and good because you actors know how to say my dialogue and act my characters.

If The Playlist had any comprehension past the age of 12, you schmucks would have realized that VERY quickly. I don't even like Tarantino either....

This website is getting pretty stupid. Anyone know of any good film blogs?

Not only did he pay an enomorous amount of tribut to his fellow nominees: "This is the year of the screenwriters, you guys are incredible." But he also payed a big amount of respect to his actors, basically saying: My films are only memorable and good because you actors know how to say my dialogue and act my characters.

If The Playlist had any comprehension past the age of 12, you schmucks would have realized that VERY quickly. I don't even like Tarantino either….

This website is getting pretty stupid. Anyone know of any good film blogs?

My two biggest annoyances when it comes to critiques are that first: the musical montage was talking about the revival in the past ten years, so thus Chicago, Dreamgirls and Les Mis would be the focus as three of the most successful; and second: people who say We Saw Your Boobs was sexist missed the point that he was addressing the perceived sexism of his other works by saying that if he did a number that offensive to women, he should rightfully be hated, while still getting away with doing it. Critiques about how long it was are completely justified

It wasn't the worst Oscar show, it wasn't the best. There were some really good moments and some cringe-worthy bad ones. I started to think the peaks and valleys were on purpose. The show was a 4 hr bi-polar tribute to Silver Linings Playbook.
Most of my pics echo yours -
Best: 1. Argo Wins Best Picture - Ben's Speech 2. Adele sings Skyfall 3. Shirley Bassey sings Goldfinger 4. Daniel Day Lewis' speech 5. Charlize Theron/Channing Tatum Dance. 6. The cast of Les Miz sing 7. Catherine Zeta Jones sings 8. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Radcliffe, Seth MacFarlane dance 9. Barbara Streisand sings The Way We Were 10. Jennifer Lawrence's speech.
Worst: 1. The Boob Song 2. Sock Puppets 3. The Flying Nun 4 -5. 17 1/2 min show open then shutting down a winner's mic 6. that stupid "loser" song. 7. Ted 8. Capt Kirk's schtick went on waaaaay too long 9. The Avengers reunion 10. Melissa McCarthy - Paul Rudd

Anne Hathaway's singing blew me away last night. None of last night's acting nominees could sing like her. Seriously, she could rival Adele in the singing department any day . This multi-talented and versatile broad will be around for a long time. Anne can go from Brokeback Mountain to Rachel Getting Married to TDKR to Les Miserables. That takes major talent to do that.

P.S. Quentin Tarantino is gifted, but he is always full of himself. Watching his speeches, you realize Tarantino is a jerk of the highest order.

'wasn't as bad as the James Franco/Anne Hathaway-fronted disaster of two years ago, and we'd argue that it marked an improvement on last year's Billy Crystal-hosted throwback affair', the PR machine by the media on behalf of Seth Macfarlane has had me laughing.

All that hate in particular on Franco for just a TV award show that's generally fixed anyway, and both Crystal and Mcfarlane who were suppose to be the shining light to Franco's evil ways also failed, no matter how well people try and dress it.

Plus, the overwhelming response on twitter to bring Franco or Franco/Hathaway (well done, for winning an Oscar) back during the Oscar show was outstanding and again made me laugh.

I love the way each year Franco looks vindicated (man the hate he received for what); some people claimed Franco looked stoned and wasn't all there, but at least he didn't insult the audience with lame jokes on race, sexism, jews, domestic violence etc.

I'm a woman, I have boobs, I watched the show with a group of 27-35 year olds, and we all thought the Boobs song was funny and the jokes toward women were just jokes. Any time you make a joke about a man it isn't necessarily coming from a place of deeply hateful feminism. Sometimes a joke is just a joke. He was just trying to make people laugh. Maybe not everything was "appropriate", but Billy Crystal was considered appropriate, and that was boring. So good job Seth, it was a fun night.

When Jennifer Hudson started screaming her ass off into a mic/singing, the TV went on mute. Why are people so easily entranced by that kind of performance? And the Tarantino speech was awesome. Writers and directors are usually boring individuals, so fuck him for having a personality?

I agree that not every jok hit and th boob song flopped hard in my books, but Macfarlane was refreshing as a host after the total bores they had in recent years.
