What I\’d meant that he was working with a script from Nat Faxon & Jim Rash, rather than usual co-writer Jim Taylor. But, yeah, I could have been clearer on that point.

And cirkusfolk, District 9 was 1) a solid gold $100m plus hit, which Winding Refn\’s won\’t be, and 2) Sneaked in , when there was a field of ten, likely in 9th or 10th position. I\’d love Drive to get a nomination, but it\’s just not happening.

Er, what? Alexander Payne has almost always worked with other\’s source material, including Election, Schmidt and Sideways. In fact, he – like Kubrick and Kaufman – is an American famed for his adaptations more than anything else. Seriously, what you said – that the adaptation process \”brought out something new in the director\” – means literally nothing.
