A fine and interesting piece of work (save for the usual prickly pears among the comments who want to denigrate some of the year's top work) but the pressing question here is how Mr. Littleton managed an article-wide, FIRST PERSON PASS for this one! Good writing made all the better by being liberated from the sometimes unnatural restrictions of us, we and this writer.

Also, I LOVED Carey Mulligan in Shame. I would like to see her nominated instead of Shailene Woodley in The Descendants, again who can tell the thought processes of the Academy.

I don't think Bridesmaids and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will be nominated for Best Picture.
I think War Horse will instead, I feel the Acacdemy likes that type of picture better. I haven't seen it as yet, but I loved the play. Possibly The Tree of Life, I really can't say.

My dream, especially after those ridiculous guild nominations for art direction and costume on top of its awful screenplay nominations, is a Bridesmaids shutout. That lousy movie, aside from Melissa McCarthy, doesn't deserve any nominations — except for Razzies the day before.

Oh yeah, "don't rule out a nomination for best adapted screenplay for Drive." Yeah, right, in your wildest, most naive fanboy dreams. You know why it won't get that nomination? Because it wasn't a good movie. You know why Albert Brooks was "snubbed" by the SAG nominations? Because he wasn't that good, just a drab, monotone, "serious" play on his already bored comic schtick.

I have to thank for including Dario Marianelli's score for Jane Eyre! This is the first place where that score has been recognized. That score is one of the best of the year and it sucks that it has been overlooked by pretty much everyone. Hopefully your prediction for that one is right!

tinker isn't getting nominated that many times, the film literally has no momentum except for the BAFTAs. unless the Brits in the Academy somehow manage to rally around Oldman, I don't see him getting a nomination.

Dragon Tattoo over Tree of Life? The Descendants over Drive? Glenn Close over Charlize Theron? This year is full of so much crap, I can't even handle it.
