That is probably not edgy enough or cool enough for this list and accessible to those who like Jazz inflected singers – very obscure. Gibney is an Oscar winner.

Its about a world famous singer (except in America although there was a Tony nominated Broadway Show about him). Drummer Ginger Baker worked with Fela extensively. Now that I think about it, the Ginger Baker documentary was amazing too. He is repellent, but fascinating.
