Good list. Absolutely agree with #1. Gyllenhaal gave the best performance I\’ve seen in years. "Birdman" is deservedly mentioned, but I think Norton was good enough to have his own slot somewher ein there, too.

Glad to see Guy Pearce finally mentioned somewhere (even though for me personally both Pearce and Pattinson own the movie). Pearce is such an underrated actor, I\’m disappointed that his performance is overlooked this season (well both performances, because Pattinson was phenomenal in supporting role). And totally agree about Gyllenhaal, Mia Wasikowska had a great year and as someone already said – Agata Kulesza deserves to be mentioned too.

The "legion of fans of Robert Pattinson" (lol) doesn\’t have any problem with the praise Guy Pearce is getting. He is a very underrated actor who was phenomenal in The Rover.

Try as you might to get Pattinson\’s fans to diss Guy Pearce, it\’s never gonna happen. Pearce has been an outstanding actor for years, and he was tremendous in The Rover. He was the rock, and Pattinson was the heart and soul of The Rover. Their scenes together made you hold your breath. I hope to see them work together again. Nice to see Pattinson getting an honorable mention, he deserved it and much more.

Just want to add that for \’Mommy\’, La Presse (a Montréal newspaper) reported this week that the movie now qualifies for all the categories at the Oscar because the distributor is releasing it quietly for a week in Los Angeles (starting December 12 according to imdb), so anything is possible now for the movie…

I can\’t take any list that doesn\’t have Boyhood on it seriously. As for Chastain, she did release 4 movies this year: two of them were exceedingly tedious, one she had a supporting role, and the other is (again) long and slow. Shaky accents and underwhelming performances–she\’s a utility actress at best. Look at the box office for Eleanor Rigby and Miss Julie, two movies that she was responsible for carrying. She\’s overhyped and overrated.
