Why do I only see white people in any of these pictures, except for a couple of documentaries? How are storytellers still ONLY imagining their characters as white? Every time it seems as though we are getting closer to embracing diversity, I am reminded as to how far we actually are. This disappoints me to my core. People of color exist and until mainstream media realizes and reflects that, we are living in the margins in our own society. People of color can be heroes. They can be quirky. They can be sexual, ambitious, frightened, romantic, manipulative, innocent.... In 99% of cases, they can play any character you are dreaming up in your head just as well as a white person can. And if you are unsure of whether an Indian girl would "do that" or a Black person would "act that way" or an Asian man would "think like that," you are simply replacing your own lack of information with generalizations.
