IndieWire, are you intentionally ignoring Interstellar on almost every list possible? You\’re trying to hurt its award chances, right? I know, I know, it\’s original and tries not to please everyone (including award specialists), but I think that\’s what makes it great, rewatchable. There\’re so many outstanding shots that can\’t be left out: THE docking sequence, Endurance passing Saturn, Jessica Chastain\’s face and the Wormhole. I\’m glad the Academy voters are REAL filmmakers, not pathetic journalists or critics all about politics. They\’re above that.

One of the most beautifully tender and romantic shots I\’ve ever seen in any movie is the mirrorball/heartbeat scene from A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. I don\’t recall a time other than this where a shot literally took my breath away and made me yearn for something at the same time.

1) FURY : The 5 German planes have a last all out attempt at the one hundred or odd so Allied planes shot. Gave the word Blitzkrieg a new face.
2) INTERSTELLAR: After Dr.Mann kills himself as he attempts to dock the spaceship and Endurance is free floating in air, Cooper makes an last dash to reach the ship. There\’s a wide shot which shows the endurance on the right hand side of the screen and the small ship on the left with the planet as BG. Gorgeousness.

Interesting list. I\’ve yet to see "Winter Sleep," "Leviathan," "Selma," "A Most Violent Year" or "Selma." That being said, I thought the year\’s most memorable shots were: the final mirror shot in "The Immigrant," the flaming alien running through the woods in "Under the Skin," Emma Stone looking up in "Birdman," the final shot of "Boyhood" (sort of matching it with the first shot of the film), the spider in "Enemy," the avalanche in "Force Majeure," and The Girl skateboarding with her back facing us in "Girl Walks Home Alone at Night." Funniest shot of the year: either the drug trade-off or Josh Brolin eating a banana in "Inherent Vice."
