I prefer El Dorado to Rio bravo too. that along with Night of The hunter,farewell my lovely, Villa Rides, and the big Steal are my favourite mitchum movies.
One of his best early movies is Crossfire.

Other than those points, this is a brilliant and superbly written assessment of one of the great actors AND great movie stars.
