Does the author feel Brando\’s Southern accent in Sayonara was affected because he was used to hearing his normal voice. I ask, because the accent itself is a perfect accent.
Also, not sure what the author means in hi description of \’the freshman\’ that Brando \’usually came unstuck in comedy\’ In what? Brando wasn\’t able to show it much, had great comic talent. Even look at his Teahouse of an August Moon\’, not only doing a perfect Japanese character, but he knew how to play the comedy of it.
I think many get stuck with seeing an actor a certain way and then gets stuck if they do something different.

I would argue that Burn is in his top five (along with Streetcar, Waterfront, Godfather and Tango). Also of note in the otherwise bland George C Scott thriller The Formula, Brando pops up for a few fantastic scenes, much different then any previous role (a conservative businessman). And finally his hammy performance as the white supremacist George Lincoln Rockwell on TV in Roots: The Next Generation is a lot of fun.

I enjoyed both the Chase and Morituri which were maded in the mid-60s. Strong performances in both films, much better than some of the films you mention in the Honorable Mentions section of your article. Good article besides that.
