i recall reading a blurb somewhere some months ago about the changes in the script. can't remember, but i think it may have been a quote that came from Duvall's mouth. wonder why Bleeding Cool is reporting it now like it's new news??

Orson Welles actually had the same idea when he was toying with tackling DQ (instead he tackled Dairy Queen — zing!). His thought was that the anachronistic nature of Don Quixote's fantasies would not be clear to modern audiences…

…which is pretty much what one of the Anonymouses said above.

If anything, this sort of move would only work for the story. The difference between where Don Quixote's head was, and where Don Quixote actually was, respectively medieval Europe and the 1500's, wouldn't be as clear to modern audiences as to those of the 1500's. Though you lose the look and feel of the fifteen hundreds, you get in turn a much more human Quixote. Much better than the route that Joel Silver is considering, at least in that regard.
