At least the reviewer's trying, going into a little bit of detail before he rushes off to the next film, notebook in hand. Of course, in Justin Chang's Variety review, which is very thoughtfully written (quite positive, but with a few criticisms), he states that it was an overall decision for all the actors to speak in their various accents – he thought it was one of the few things that went against Flaubert's naturalistic intents, but Chang at least understood that this was the director's intent. If the film is as Variety describes it I will definitely enjoy it – obviously, it's more internal. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

"The early drabness of the movie, meant to subconsciously convey Bovaryâs discontent instead becomes oppressive and dreary." wtf does that even mean? so much awful in this review. worse than the college papers i used to write for fifty bucks and some vodka.
