This edict is true. From Chaplin in The Kid to Woody Allen in Manhattan, two of the most consistently funny things are the minor child abuse in those films. I haven't seen Billy Madison since I was young enough to have a dodgeball hurled at by Adam Sandler, but I imagine it works there too.
