Speaking to assembled members of the press during an HBO and Max preview in Los Angeles this morning, Bloys said any rumors to the contrary are false. And not only that, it will not be a shortened season. Eight new episodes are coming, the same as the previous two seasons.

Well, it’s official (and more than a little suprising): “Euphoria” will be back for Season 3. Variety reports that the hit HBO series will start shooting in January 2023, with all of its principal cast returning.  That’s great news for the show’s fans, but it should leave most people scratching their heads. After all, production on Season 3 will start three years after Season 2’s premiere.  Hasn’t the “Euphoria” zeitgeist already faded, and didn’t the myriad delays from last year’s guild strikes and Sam Levinson‘s wonky scripts expedite that process?

As an actress and executive producer, Zendaya is already a multi-hyphenate, but she’s not quite ready to climb into a director’s chair.  IndieWire reports (via The New York Times) that the “Challengers” star needs more time before she directs her first project. But when that day comes, Luca Guadagnino will say, “I told you so.”

“I’m overly conscious of everything else around me,” Zendaya told the publication in an interview for Guada’s new tennis drama, in theaters today.  That’s when Guadagnino chimed in, “Because Z is a director. I told you many times, and I repeat it now to The Times.”  Zendaya stressed that she’s still “learning,” but given the pedigree of directors she’s worked with recently, like Guadagnino and Denis Villeneuve, she may be further along in her apprenticeship than she thinks.

Based on the marketing, you might think “Challengers” is at its core, a tennis movie and, well, it sort of is. The film is certainly set in the world of tennis, you can’t deny that, and at one point, Zendaya’s character Tashi Duncan remarks, “We’re always talking about tennis.” The sport is at the center of her life. But despite everyone involved’s best efforts, the serves and volleys in this movie are nowhere near as important as the decade-long love triangle between Tashi and one-time BFFs, Patrick Zweig and Art Donaldson, played by Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, respectively.
