After a zombie heist movie, two poorly received sci-fi epics, and an animated series about Norse mythology, Zack Snyder‘s next project at Netflix is…an action movie about the LAPD? THR reports that, yes, something more grounded than superheroes, comic book adaptations, bad space opera, and the undead is indeed Snyder’s next feature film. Wonders will never cease.

Folks like Loki, Thor, and Odin (not the Marvel versions) are shown in the clip, as is a lot of bloody gore and sex—things that are fairly commonplace in Snyder’s recent director’s cuts of “Rebel Moon.” The man loves sex and violence, there’s no two ways around it.

According to Zack Snyder (via his Vero profile, which apparently is still trying to be a thing), the Snyder Cut of “Justice League” will be available to see on the big screen… somehow.

TV takes on familiar IP isn’t new these days, although the quality of those series runs the gamut.  For every show like Prime Video‘s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Dead Ringers,” there are others, like Paramount+‘s “Sexy Beast,” that are utterly forgettable. To quote Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Infinity War,’ “Your math is blowing my mind.” Last month, director Zack Snyder appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience (you can watch/listen below) to promote his latest film, “Rebel Moon: Part Two” (read our review). Among many of the comments made and stories told, Snyder suggested that more people saw his movie on Netflix than “Barbie” in theaters, a hot take the director used to defend using “Netflix math.”  

Pulling 160 million viewers seemingly out of the air, Snyder tried to make a 1:1 comparison between theater tickets sold and the number of people streaming, which is tricky and dubious given dozens of reasons (streamers generally count one view as long as they have watched 20 minutes of the product, for example).

But it at least had a story with three bare acts, however tedious. “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver,” the sequel, however— continuing the already unexceptional story of the ragtag group of warrior misfits defending a peaceful farming community on an off-world moon—is somehow even worse and barely justifies its existence on a fundamental level.
